- "Georgia law does not authorize law enforcement officers to request identification from citizens for no reason and charge them with obstruction if they fail to comply." Brown v. Georgia Carry.Org, Inc. 331 Ga. App. 890 (2015). As long as you are free to leave, you do not have to provide identification. However, you may not provide false identification. Additionally, you must provide identification if stopped while operating a vehicle or stopped in connection with the operation of a vehicle.
Know Your Rights
